In Antigua, Guatemala the Mercado Central ("central market") sits right beside the bus terminal. People from all over Guatemala come to buy or sell or trade animal, vegetable, mineral or "other". Each indigenous group has their own dialect of the Mayan language (21 in total) and their own, unique pattern of dress. Hence, by observing the clothing, one knows what dialect to speak when buying melons, for example.
