The pain in my arse

Ouch! I have a big pain in my arse. The right cheek to be exact. Yesterday it was my left cheek.

Tomorrow I'm heading to Rurrenabaque in the Bolivian Amazon jungle. It is a small Amazonian town surrounded by the jungle where I'm bound to find many wonderful animals in the pampas and... mosquitoes! I don't like mosquitoes.

Every Bolivian knows that the best prevention against mosquitoes is Vitamin B. And when I was in Cochabamba, Matthias (my wonderful host) told me that before he went to the jungle he went to the pharmacy for a strong-dose Vitamin B, via injection.

So yesterday I went to a medical clinic to have 2ml of Vitamin B complex injected straight into my arse. The doctor told me to drop my underwear, bend over the table and lean on my right leg. I complied. But then my hands clenched over the sides of the medical bench as he jabbed that long needle deep into my precious, soft arse and pushed the yellow fluid very, very slowly into me. I felt like something was filling me up like a water-balloon.

I now know why I cried so much when I got those bloody injections in my arse when I was a child. It freakin' hurts! And I was limping for about 3 hours afterwards. And because I'm leaving for the jungle so soon, I need to have a second dose in quick succession for the Vitamin B to be active. Damn!

Today I was in a different area of La Paz and so I went to a different medical clinic. This time it was a nurse who punished me by pushing the long needle deep into my butt. She kept saying, "It's going to hurt, it's going to hurt."
"Yes, I know," I said, still recovering from my experience yesterday.
"Yes, but it's going to hurt a lot!" She had a evil grin on her face.
"Okay, stop telling me that! and asked her to kindly prod my right cheek this time.

I must say, it didn't hurt as much while she injected me but the limping and pain continued for much longer afterwards.
