Not long after I first moved to the UK,  I was driving through the countryside with some elderly family-friends when they admired the "beautiful rape fields".

I did a double take. "Excuse me," I said.

They pointed to the yellow fields, extending towards the horizon, and explained that the flowers are called rapeseed, also known as rape.

Did no one else think this was odd?

As it turns out, it's the third-largest source of vegetable oil in the world.

My elderly friends described a time when their friend beseeched them to stop their road-trip through so that she could get strip and cavort nakedly through the rape field. That story is the inspiration for these photos.
